Lens Shift: What God Taught Me in August

We made it through August, sis. And let me tell you, this month was a whole masterclass in shifting perspective. The Lens Shift Method isn’t just about cute content — it’s about learning to look at life through God’s lens, rather than the world’s fear, confusion, or disappointment.

If you missed some of the Reels and posts I dropped this month, here’s a full recap of what God’s been teaching us. Grab your Bible and a notebook, because we’re about to go in.

Sunflower field

August is all about Sunflowers here in South Dakota

. Our county is one of the biggest producers of Sunflowers in the nation.

So beautiful and bright - Enjoy.

Week 1: Closed Doors and Stormy Seas

Theme: God’s redirection is protection.

  • Isaiah 55:8-9 reminded us that His ways are higher. That “no” you’re grieving? It might just be a divine detour.

  • Mark 4:39 shows us that storms aren’t proof that God has left. He’s the anchor that keeps us calm when everything else is shaking.

Reflection: Where have you mistaken a “not this” as a “not ever”?

Week 2: Faith as a Lens

Theme: Living by faith, not feelings.

  • 2 Corinthians 5:7 shook us: faith is a choice, not a vibe. Feelings lie, but God’s truth doesn’t.

  • John 15:2 reminded us that pruning hurts, but it’s necessary. Sometimes God removes people or opportunities because He’s protecting the mission.

Reflection: What do you need to start viewing through faith instead of fear?

Week 3: Hidden Seasons and Small Starts

Theme: Trusting what you can’t see yet.

  • Exodus 14:14 whispered, “Be still. God is fighting for you.” Even when you don’t see results, He’s moving behind the scenes.

  • Zechariah 4:10 encouraged us not to despise small beginnings. Heaven celebrates every tiny step forward.

Reflection: What’s one small start you can celebrate this week?

Week 4: Chapters, Delays, and Divine Timing

Theme: Your story isn’t over.

  • Romans 8:28 assured us that every painful past chapter is part of God’s good plan. Shame doesn’t get the final word.

  • Habakkuk 2:3 reminded us that delay is not denial. God’s “not yet” is preparation for His perfect timing.

Reflection: Where do you need to stop rushing and start trusting?

Final Word for August

Sis, if August taught us anything, it’s this: God’s lens always reveals hope. Closed doors, storms, pruning, waiting — none of it is wasted when we let Him shift our perspective.

So ask yourself:
👉 Where do I need a lens shift right now?
👉 Am I willing to trust God’s timing over my own?

Take the Next Step

If August blessed you, imagine what 12 weeks of guided teaching, coaching, and accountability could do for your faith walk.
