Lens Shift: The Hidden Cost of Staying Stuck in Life & Business

August 27, 20252 min read

The Hidden Cost of Staying Stuck . . .

Let’s be real — nobody (me included) talks about the grief of watching your dream collect dust. You know the one I’m talking about. That dream you journaled about, prayed over, and maybe even told your best friend about late one night when you felt brave enough to speak it out loud. Somewhere along the way, it got buried under responsibilities, fear, or the endless loop of “I’ll get to it later.”

But here’s the truth: staying stuck isn’t free. In fact, it’s one of the most expensive choices you can make.

The Emotional Cost

Every time you say “maybe next year,” it chips away at your confidence. You start to wonder if you’re even capable of doing what God placed in your heart. That inner critic gets louder, whispering things like “you’re too late” or “you’re not enough.”

Faith check: “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” (Proverbs 13:12)

Staying stuck robs you of hope — and hope is the fuel for your future.

The Energy Cost

Here’s the part people don’t realize: being stuck is exhausting. You’d think doing nothing would feel restful, but it’s the opposite. When you’re not moving forward, you’re constantly spinning your wheels, second-guessing yourself, and replaying the “what ifs.”

It really only takes 15 minutes to shift!!

The Time Cost

Sis, this one hurts. Time is the one resource we don’t get back.

Every week you wait is a week you can’t rebuild. Imagine looking back a year from now and realizing you could’ve been 12 months into your dream if you had just started.

Time is our most important resource.

My Story

I’ve been there. I remember sitting on the floor, frustrated, looking a mess, crying out, thinking maybe I should just quit. It felt safer to give up than to risk failing. But in that moment, I realized something: I wasn’t failing because I was unworthy — I was failing because I wasn’t moving.

The moment I took one small step forward, everything shifted. Not because it was perfect, but because I chose to stop waiting.

Faith + Empowerment

You weren’t created to stay stuck. That dream inside of you is still alive, and it’s waiting for you to move. Every small step forward matters, because it builds confidence, energy, and faith.

So let me ask you: what’s it costing you to stay where you are? And are you willing to keep paying that price?
